Abstract

In the increasingly competitive landscape of higher education, visual representation plays a crucial role in strengthening institutional identity. This research aims to design strategic visual communication media for the Visual Communication Design (DKV) Study Program and the Faculty of Information Technology and Creative (FTIK) at Universitas Internasional Semen Indonesia (UISI). By adopting the Design Thinking method, this study produced three primary outputs: a DKV Study Program Catalog, FTIK content video, and a DKV Study Program brochure. The design process was conducted through empathy, definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing phases to ensure visual relevance to the target audience’s needs. This study demonstrates that the integration of Design Thinking enables the creation of a cohesive visual narrative, serving as an effective visual strategy to enhance academic branding. The resulting catalog design and supporting media prove that a user-oriented approach can bridge complex institutional information into more engaging, communicative, and credible content. This research provides both theoretical and practical contributions to the development of visual communication in academic environments, emphasizing the importance of well-planned design in building a positive public perception of educational institutions.
