Sampah Dapur Sebagai Pupuk Organik Cair (POC) bagi Warga Pensiunan di Patiunus - Semarang

Abstract

Household waste, especially from the kitchen, whether raw or cooked, is produced almost daily. This waste can be classified into three categories: 1) organic plant waste; 2) organic animal waste; 3) processed plant and animal waste. These three types of waste have different characteristics and produce different aromas during decomposition. The aroma is a serious problem for the home environment because it causes discomfort for all residents, especially when guests visit. In fact, this kitchen waste has benefits behind the decomposition process that occurs. The decomposition process will produce leachate or a thick liquid that has good benefits for the plant fertilization process. In community service activities carried out for residents on Jalan Patiunus - Semarang, generally housewives have other activities, namely planting flowers or other plants around their homes. However, there are also mothers who do not like this busyness in their retirement. Through the method of socializing the use of kitchen waste and practicing making media for it, the owner of Kebun Asri Agro, Mrs. Ninik, began to understand and enthusiastically follow all stages of the socialization and practice carried out by the lecturer. This activity is expected to foster an understanding of the importance of sorting and separating waste for positive and productive purposes for plants. Kebun Asri Agro hopes that this Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) training will inspire housewives in the surrounding area to utilize kitchen waste and apply POC to their plants, thus saving on fertilizer costs.
